Each week when you write your reading memos, you are required to send them to the course listserv. This is also the way you will turn them into me. Please do not hand in paper versions of your reading memos. Reading memos must be submitted to the list before class begins on Mondays.
For those of you who are not familiar with Listservs, they are simply lists of people's email addresses that are used to distribute email en masse to everyone on the list. Instead of sending mail to each individual person and having to know all of their e-mail addresses, there is a central address to which you send your message, and then the listserv resends your message to everyone on the list.
I have established a listserv for this class for the purposes of distributing the reading memos. The listserv is called: SOC471-SL-SP99. That means you send your reading memos to (capitalization makes no difference):
SOC471-SL-SP99@listserv.nd.edu
The address is kind of long, so if you can't remember it, you can either create a nick name for it, or you can send mail to it through the web page. If you send it through the web page, the FROM: address should be the First.M.Last.#@nd.edu version of your e-mail address. Other addresses may not work.
There is no need to send a copy of your reading memo to me separately. I am on the list and will receive a copy when you send it. You will also receive a copy of your message back.
When you write your memo, you can either write it directly in your e-mail program, or you can write it in a word processor and simply copy/paste it into the e-mail message when you are done. Please do not "attach" separate documents (if you even know how to do that--if you don't, don't worry about it).
