I live in South Bend, Indana, with my wife Kim. Kim is a librarian at Saint Joseph County Public Library. We got married on June 23, 2007, in the village of Quilty on the Atlantic coast of Ireland. Some pictures are here.
Our house is home to two beautiful cats, who we acquired from the Montgomery (NJ) township pound with the help of Animal Alliance NJ. Paris is a slightly neurotic attention tart, with the characteristic charcoal nose of a Parisian Patou; Geneva is a shy kitty whose favourite spot is far under the bed. Her reclusive behavior suggests that she may be a Genevan Skitty. Here are some more pics of the kitties.
Recent we added Casey to the menagerie. Casey is a Toy Fox Terrier who came to us via Second Chance Small Dog Rescue of Elkhart, IN.
In my spare time I enjoy opera and walking up things. I dream of seeing a performance of Act III of Die Walkuere atop an actual Alpine peak. Until that dream comes true, I'll settle for frequent visits to the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and occassional walks up mountains. Here's a photographic record of a trip to Carrauntoohil, Ireland's highest peak; and here's one of a trip to Volcan Baru, Panama's highest point, from which, on a clear day, one can see both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
I also enjoy empirically verifing the principle of Archimedes by immersing myself in bodies of water whenever possible.
Finally, I have the odd habit of counting the number of airports that I've flown into and/or out of. (Fortunately, I'm not alone in this ...)
