News - February 9th 2010 - News Grab Bag
A handful of things to mention today.  The first is the limited number of attempts mechanic in ICC is being removed for normal modes.  So now you will only have to worry about limited attempts when you try those bosses on Heroic mode.

If the buffing perfumes and colognes you can buy during Love is in the Air have grabbed your interest you should know that they will disappear from your inventory when the holiday is over.  So you've got just under 2 weeks to smell nice and kick a little extra butt.

Toravon is getting a little nerf that should make the fight easier.  The debuff effect of Whiteout is getting reduced and the Frozen Orbs will do less damage.  A welcome change.

MMO-Champion has datamined 2 new Deathcharger mounts: Crimson and Azure.  No word on where they will drop or what other method there will be to get them, but it's something to look forward to.

News - February 8th 2010 - A Different Kind Of Love Is In The Air
As you should know by now Love is in the Air 2010 started yesterday.  But it's not the same holiday that we've seen the past few years.  No longer will you have to run around piecing together Gifts of Adoration or logging on every hour hoping to get a candy bag, instead you'll be creating Lovely Charm Bracelets and buying things with Love Tokens.  Again, here's a guide for doing the achievements and if you're still confused about anything here's a FAQ as well.  Overall the changes have made the holiday MUCH easier as you can buy just about everything you need for the achievements now.  And Love Tokens aren't that hard to get either: you can either be patient and do the 6 dailies (for 30 tokens a day) until you have enough, or you can grind mobs if you don't want to wait that long.  Either way there is more than enough time to get everything done during this holiday.

If you're wanting to know anything about the new holiday dailies or you're stuck on the quest chain that leads up to fighting the new seasonal boss just check out the info provided here by WorldofRaids.

And speaking of the new seasonal boss in Shadowfang Keep it's just like the other seasonal bosses: if you know what to do during the fight it's pretty darn easy, but if you don't then you may have some trouble with the fight.  Here's a rundown of the abilities, the loot table, and a fight strategy.  Of course it's irritating that Blizzard put yet another seasonal boss in a location nowhere near any Alliance flight paths, but at least the summoning stones will work for level 80s now.

And finally, here's a video of the Toxic Wasteling, new pet that can drop when you're fighting the seasonal boss.  It actually eats critters and grows when it does!

News - February 5th 2010 - A Number Of Hotfixes To Look Over
Let's start of by saying Happy Birthday to Neolete!  Also Happy 17th Anniversary to Nasherall and Valerian.

We now have the first official, legitimate 25-man kill of the Lich King and it was done by Vodka.  In case you missed the update I threw in yesterday, Ensidia got banned for cheating during their kill of the Lich King, and got their loot and achievements taken away which means they were no longer considered the world first.  Ha Ha!!!

There are some more PvP changes going in.  The debuff that you'll get in PvP that reduces healing by 10% healing will also reduce the effectiveness of Power Word: Shield and Sacred Shield by 10% as well.

Some tanking changes in ICC are happening too.  Paladins' Sacred Duty is getting nerfed by half, and Death Knights are getting buffs to Frost Presence and Icebound Fortitude.

And finally there are a number of changes being applied to Deathbringer Saurfang.  The amount of blood power he gains from ability damage is getting turned back to 3.3.0 values (i.e. he'll be getting less), however Power Word: Shield will no longer prevent him from getting blood power, the Blood Beasts can no longer be knocked off the platform (damn), and they removed the blood power gain from Mark of the Fallen Champion damage.  So a couple of buffs to the fight and a couple of nerfs.

And a note to you all that Love is in the Air begins this Sunday.  Here's a guide for doing the achievements.  I should mention that the new seasonal boss in Shadowfang Keep will have a chance of dropping the Big Love Rocket mount.

News - February 4th 2010 - Creative Use Of Game Mechanics, My A$$
We left our mark in ICC25 by bringing down Marrowgar for a guild first.  Unfortunately it looks like we're going to be dealing with Lady Deathwhisper for a while longer until we can work up a strategy for dealing with those pesky adds.  Nightbloom sent me a WoL report for the run.

Yesterday Enshitia, I mean Ensidia beat the 25-man version of the Lich King.  And what a big surprise, they did so by exploiting a bug in the fight mechanics.  Wow, it's funny how often that happens with them.  And of course they saw nothing wrong with it and actually have the nerve to blame the exploit on Blizzard's testing.  You see why I really, truly hate these guys?

*update* Ah justice, it has finally been served.  Blizzard has suspended for 72 hours the accounts of all 25 members of Ensidia that were involved in the 25-man Lich King kill, removed their achievements, and took away the loot they got!  Yay Blizzard!!!

The non-cheaters in Blood Legion have released two videos of their fight and legitimate kill of the Lich King.  Unfortunately the portion of the fight dealing with Frostmourne isn't included.

There were some more fixes recently implemented, most deal with late ICC and won't affect us.

And finally, there was some loot discussion in last night's run and the officers are talking it over.  For now we're asking that when it comes to Strength and Agility that you pay attention to what stat you get the most benefit from and try to courteously stick to that stat when it comes to rolling on loot.  Basically hunters, rogues, feral druids, and enhancement shamans benefit more from Agility than death knights, paladins, and warriors (who benefit more from Strength).  We're not saying that if you're a DK you can't roll on a ring that has Agility, but if you win it you may want to think about letting one of the Agi-based classes have it.  For now it's completely your decision to do so, but it had better be a good upgrade for you.

News - February 3rd 2010 - R.I.P. Arthas... Now Check His Pockets For Loot
I knew I'd be reporting on the first Lich King kill this morning.  And I wasn't disappointed.  The first 10-man Lich King kill goes to Blood Legion (finally a US first).  Even though most serious raiders won't acknowledge a 10-man normal mode first kill as something noteworthy, those elitist pricks are just jealous that they didn't get it first so I will happily give Blood Legion the props they deserve.

And speaking of killing the Lich King we now get a look at the loot that ol' Arthas drops.  It's interesting that he only drops weapons, and I really like that every weapon has some sort of heroic sounding name.  Plus the 25-man heroic versions of the weapons each have flavor text.  Pretty cool.

Now here's something that's completely new: there are now special ICC weekly raid quests available.  These weeklys involve doing something or killing a special quest-only mob in ICC.  The reward is a Sack of Frosty Treasures that contains 5 Emblems of Frost, gold, and possibly some epic gems and/or epic BoE loot.  But before you get too excited some of these quests involve doing things while fighting bosses that our guild hasn't even gotten to yet (even on 10-man), and others are being reported as being very difficult to complete.

Although we won't be visiting the Lich King anytime soon we have to start somewhere.  So tonight we're going back to ICC25.  Last week we seemed to grab hold of a strategy for Marrowgar that may work for us so tonight let's get the job done and bring him down.  Also there is a continuation of tonight's run set up for this Friday night.

News - February 2nd 2010 - Fall Of The Lich King
3.3.2 is going live at this moment.  If you haven't read the patch notes already then give them a look-through.  There are some more 5-man instance nerfs, Arena Season 8 starts, a few class changes, Toravon is now present in VoA (which will make Wintergrasp a very popular place tonight), and the final wing of ICC opens up giving access to Valithria Dreamwalker, Sindragosa, and the Lich King himself.

Speaking of the Lich King, now that the patch file is accessible you know that MMO-Champion went digging for some datamined goodies.  In this case it's the cinematic that plays after you finally beat the Lich King.  I do not have to tell you that this is extreme spoiler territory!  You should know that yourself by now.  I will say that if you've followed any of the previous ICC spoiler info you probably already have a good idea of what happens in the cinematic, and I can tell you that you are correct.  But if you don't want the ending of Wrath of the Lich King ruined for you then do not click the link above.  That's your last warning.

And with Season 8 starting that also means that we get the previously mentioned buff to Resilience in PvP.  To go along with those changes healing will be getting a nerf in PvP as well.  In arenas, battlegrounds, and Wintergrasp everyone now gets a debuff that reduces the effectiveness of healing on them by 10%.  This includes healing pots and Healthstones.  Again, this only applies to healing done during PvP in arenas, battlegrounds, and Wintergrasp.

News - February 1st 2010 - Apparently Nothing Happened This Weekend
Well this sucks.  Get through an entire weekend and there is practically nothing to talk about.  The only two things that have really been mentioned in the WoW community is the fact that the 3.3.2 patch should be going live tomorrow (which we already knew), and that Blizzard has a new Account Security section on the Battle.net site which talks about ways to avoid getting your account hacked and what to do if you do get hacked.  I can sum that entire page up into one comment: "Get an authenticator, you cheapass."

Sorry about the bitterness in today's post, but when Monday comes and every one of my sources for news lets me down it's pretty irritating.
