News - October 31st 2011 - Map Features And Less Shadowy Shadows
Happy Halloween everyone.

There are some new options being added to the minimap.  The types of things that are tracked on the map is being expanded again and will include things like archaeology dig sites, and will also show borders of archaeology dig sites.  Basically Blizzard is trying to integrate parts of the Archy addon into the map.  The main zone maps will also begin showing what level of toons are expected to quest there.

And priests will be getting another minor glyph that will make their Shadow Form not so dark and transparent so that you will be able to see the nice gear you're wearing while keeping your shadowy form.

News - October 28th 2011 - Developer Q&A Reveals More Of Pandaria
There was a developer Q&A session yesterday and it revealed quite a bit more about the new expansion.  Normally I would give a list of highlights from the discussion, but fortunately for me WoWHead already has one as well as a transcript of the actual Q&A session.  There are quite a few interesting tidbits that were mentioned so make sure you read through it.

And here's a video showing the animations for the Tyrael's Charger mount that you get when you sign up for a year's worth of WoW and also get Diablo 3 for free.

News - October 27th 2011 - You're Making Things Difficult For Me, Blizzard
Ok, this rollercoaster-of-news crap needs to stop.  One day I've got lots to mention, the next I've got bupkis, then lots, and now nada.  So unless you're interested to hear that they're making the new Dragon Soul raid testable via the Looking for Raid feature on the PTR, or that they've offered the new paid guild services to some more servers, I've really got nothing else for ya today.

News - October 26th 2011 - Back To News Business
Those new guild services which include paid guild name change?  Yeah, they're already rolling those services out for certain servers.  If only this had happened a week earlier...

For the rest of today's news I direct you here and here
  • Death Knight Tier 13 armor has FINALLY been revealed, and it looks pretty nice, too.
  • The bonus procs for the three stages of the legendary Rogue daggers have been posted.  All three stages have a stacking Agi buff with the final stage also having a nice proc based on those stacks.
  • Some new mounts have been discovered including the Chromatic Dragon.
  • There's a list of achievement changes and spell changes that were datamined.
  • A whole lot of new items have been discovered.
  • And the Korean and Taiwanese realms are being the guinea pigs for a new raid reset change.  For them raids are going to reset twice a week instead of just once.  If the change goes well Blizzard may give it to the rest of us.

News - October 25th 2011 - The World Creators Now Rest
It looks like Blizzard is taking a well-earned rest after the hectic BlizzCon weekend.  The news has slowed down considerably.  Though there are some official responses to some questions that are being asked, like the issue of Pandaren of different factions not being able to speak to each other, and the rumor going around that Theramore is going to be destroyed by the Horde in the expansion.  To get to these responses click here and scroll down past the videos (which are some of the videos that I posted yesterday, in case you missed them).

News - October 24th 2011 - BlizzCon Blowout
Holy cow, where the heck do I start.  I think I'll just give you the link to MMO-Champion's recap since they've pretty much covered everything, and I'll point out some of the more important details below, picking up where I left off Friday afternoon.
  • No flying in Pandaria until you get level 90, and since the new zones are huge it should be interesting.
  • The Pandaren starting zone is on the back of an enormous turtle.
  • Pandaren toons are neutral.  At level 10 you will have to pick whether you join the Alliance or the Horde.
  • Monks will have a tanking spec, healing spec, and dps spec.  They will also have no auto attack, you will have to hit a button for every one of your strikes.
  • The only races that cannot become Monks are Worgens and Goblins.
  • The talent system is getting a complete revamp.  It will be nothing at all like what we've been playing with.  There are no more trees, you get to pick one talent out of three every 15 levels.  WoWHead has already made a talent calculator.
  • Challenge mode dungeons where your gear's ilevel is normalized and you compete for the best completion time.
  • Pokemon is essentially being added into WoW.  That's all I'm going to say about that.
  • 6 new Pandaria 5-mans, and Heroic modes for Scholomance and Scarlet Monastery (which is being altered to 2 instances with 2 wings in each).
  • No more minimum range for Hunters.  Also Hunters will no longer get melee weapons, and all other classes will no longer get ranged weapons/relics, with the exception of wands which will become main hand weapons, and Rogues and Warriors will be able to throw their melee weapon.
  • Each Warlock spec will get a unique resource system.
  • Shaman buff totems are gone.
  • Druids will get 4 specs to pick from, cat and bear being separated.
  • Looks like achievements are going to become account-wide.
  • A few more videos: some scenic views of the new zones, some Pandaren gameplay, and previews of three instances: Stormstout Brewery, Temple of the Jade Serpent, and Shado-pan Monastery.
  • And if this just isn't a f*cking kick in the teeth: Guild name change service is going live in approximately two weeks.  Would've been nice to know that before Yilithors Shadows self-destructed last week.
Of course there's a lot more, and tons of artwork too, but I'll leave that for you to dig through.  There was just too much new stuff from BlizzCon for me to mention it all.

News - October 21st 2011 - Just Waiting On BlizzCon...
Nothing really new to mention at this time.  Probably because BlizzCon starts in just a few hours.  If I get the time, and if there's anything newsworthy to mention from the early portions of BlizzCon, I may do an update or two later today.  Otherwise expect the recap news on Monday

*UPDATE* Ok, here's what's been mentioned so far:
  • If you pay for a year's worth of WoW you get the digital version of Diablo III for absolutely free when it comes out, plus you'll also get an in-game mount.
  • Mists of Pandaria will in fact be the next expansion.  The Pandaren will in fact be a new playable race.  There will also be a new class: Monk, and new zones.
  • There will not be a big bad guy of the next expansion, it will instead focus on the rather stale Alliance vs. Horde war.
  • Level cap is being raised to 90.
  • The Pandaren will be a race playable by both the Alliance AND the Horde.
  • A preview trailer of the next expansion.
  • Pandaren racials: Bouncy (reduces fall damage by half), Inner Peace (double rested XP), Gourmand (+15 to cooking skill), Epicurean (double stats to food buffs), Quaking Palm (a 3 sec sleep ability).
There's a whole lot more to come on Monday, I promise.

News - October 20th 2011 - The (Bugged) Madness Of Deathwing
For today I've pretty much just got another Dragon Soul raid boss video.  Yesterday I showed a preview video of the final fight against Deathwing, and today's video is of the fight itself, so yes, consider it a big SPOILER.  You have to keep in mind that this fight is not intended to be tested yet, it's very likely not even finished yet and the end of the fight bugs out so that the players can't even finish it.  Hopefully all this explains why the fight itself looks so incredibly boring and is nowhere near as "epic" as Blizzard promised it would be.

BlizzCon starts tomorrow, so hopefully we'll get lots of juicy news.  Unfortunately the event doesn't start until later in the afternoon so I'll probably wait until Monday to post most of it.

News - October 19th 2011 - I Wish Things Had Turned Out Better
In case you haven't been keeping up on the situation with the guild, Yilithors Shadows is pretty much defunct at this point.  Everybody's heading out in different directions, a new guild, Beyond the Shadows, has been formed, and that's about it.  But regardless of YS's outcome I am still going to be updating this site until the time that I choose to quit playing WoW (which will be by the end of this year, in case you didn't know yet).  I made this site to provide news for you guys, the players, and I will continue to do so.

Unfortunately I don't have much news for today.  There was another update to the 4.3 PTR patch notes.  It's mostly a buff to abilities that reduce the amount of healing a target receives, and from what I hear that could mostly be due to PvP troubles.

Also more Dragon Soul boss testing went on yesterday including the fight that takes place on Deathwing's back.  *SPOILER ALERT* Here's a video of that fight as well as a preview video of the final fight vs. Deathwing.

News - October 18th 2011 - Spooky Time
Hallow's End began this morning.  Due to the cataclysm there have been some changes/additions made to the event this year.
  • You will no longer have to trick-or-treat an innkeeper every hour in your search for goodies, now it's a currency based world event.  There are various ways to get the new Tricky Treats currency, and it looks like nearly everything you need or want for the event can be bought with them.
  • There are a couple of new vanity pets.
  • You can buy the transformation wands, buff candies (including G.N.E.R.D.S.), and all of the different masks, so getting the achievements is just a matter of getting enough Treats.
  • There are some new quests and new dailies.
  • Candy buckets are now found throughout the Cataclysm zones as well as all of the previous zones.
  • And as usual the Headless Horseman's loot also got an ilevel upgrade.
I'd say this was a big improvement over the previous version of this world event.  Now get out there and get that candy!

Oh yeah, here's a guide to the event including all the changes.

News - October 17th 2011 - Various Notes From The Weekend
If you missed the guild meeting held last Friday night go check the forums.  Kadarin recorded the conversation so you can hear what took place.

Blizzard opened up two of the bosses for testing in the Dragon Soul raid on the PTR.  Here are videos showing the fights in action.

The patterns for epic gem cuts have finally shown up on the PTR.  They will cost you 5 jewelcrafting tokens each, or you can take your chances and spend 4 tokens on a Tome of Burning Jewels which will give you a random epic gem cut pattern.  If you're not looking to learn a particular pattern it'd be worth saving the extra token.

And here's a couple of pics to close out today's post.  The first is a Dark Portal monitor frame (somebody's got way too much time on their hands), and the second pic is just a funny one I happened across.

News - October 14th 2011 - Buy A Server Blade, Do It For The Kids
There was another new PTR build which means more 4.3 notes.  Here are the official notes, and here is what has been datamined so far.

Blizzard upgraded all their hardware a while back, and instead of just getting rid of the old server hardware they are auctioning them off and giving the money to St. Jude's Childrens' Research Hospital.  Plus they're spiffying up the servers with logos and signatures.  The auctions begin on the 17th and they're being done in four chunks.  If you're wanting our own backwater server of Zangarmarsh it's going up for auction starting on Halloween.  This is a great idea and I'll bet they raise a lot of money.

What's the biggest crit you've ever dealt to another player (or been hit with)?  I guarantee it's nowhere near as big as this one.  633,539 is a heck of a lot of damage, but as you'll see it took a lot of coordination and luck to get it done.

News - October 13th 2011 - Finally Some Firelands Progression
Tuesday night, with the assistance of some of the folks in Preventative Maintenance, we went from being a 0/7 Firelands guild to a 3/7 Firelands guild.  Shannox, Beth'tilac, and Baleroc all were taken down.  Can I get a "Woot"?  It just takes a little push to get the progression ball rolling.

News - October 12th 2011 - Cauldron Changes And A Server First
The pre-BlizzCon news slow-age continues.  I'm really surprised that MMO-Champion hasn't leaked a ton of news prior to the event.  Either Blizzard cracked down on MMO-C's inside source, or it could mean there will be no expansion news at BlizzCon.

The Cauldron and Big Cauldron of Battle will be getting changed in 4.3 from BoP to BoA.  So you'll be able to send cauldrons to/from alts, but you still won't be able to give them to other players.

And the Zangarmarsh server first creation of the legendary staff Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest goes to the hordie guild Big Tymers.  The toon Hotsauce is the proud owner.

News - October 11th 2011 - New Pet: Buy It For Money, Sell It For Gold
A new pet is coming to the online Pet Store.  Why is this news important?  It's not because it's the very cute Guardian Cub pet, it's because it is the first pet available in the pet store that is tradable.  When you buy the pet one of your toons gets it in the mail.  Only one toon gets to add the pet to their collection per purchase.  Once you learn it on a toon that's it, it's not account bound so you can't send it off to your alts so they can learn it, too.  But instead of keeping it for yourself you can trade it to someone else, or give it as a gift, or plop it into the AH for some extra gold.  Unfortunately it will still cost just as much as the other pets in the store, i.e. $10, which is pretty stupid for a single-toon item.

That's it for today's news, but BlizzCon 2011 is in 10 days and I'm sure there's going to be some big news coming from it.  If Blizzard doesn't release some info on the next expansion they will have a lot of unhappy people.

News - October 10th 2011 - That Loot Is Mine, Not Yours
Blizzard has given us a breakdown of how loot rules will work in the Looking for Raid PUGs, including what the Need roll bonus is that we saw last week.  Basically if you get to roll Need on a piece of loot, and the loot was designed to be used with the role you selected, you get +100 to the roll.  That guarantees that the proper role gets the loot first.

A new vanity pet was found in the PTR, the Chromatic Dragon.  This is a pretty nice looking pet (even though the model may not be finished yet).  It's being speculated that it will be the guild reward for completing the Rogue legendary daggers.

Also in the 4.3 PTR it appears that you can no longer delete a character if there is still mail in their mailbox or any heirloom gear in their inventory/void storage.

News - October 7th 2011 - Grammar Nazis Are Fun
If you haven't yet, get over to our forums and at the very least read through what is one of the most important discussions that our guild has been involved in.  And feel free to speak up with opinions, suggestions, etc.

Another new PTR build, but this one doesn't have that much.  It does have the possibility of getting a bonus to your Need roll if the gear was designed with your role in mind, and a few more Tier changes were thrown in, but most of them are for Tier 12.  Weird.

Blizzard has finally presented the official preview of Hunter Tier 13 armor.  We've already seen it, but I figure I'd mention the official preview anyways.  Sorry, still no sign of Death Knight T13.

And over at Felicia Day's tumblr page she's posted a rather funny grammar nazi experience.  The ending to the conversation is priceless.

News - October 6th 2011 - Vent, Guild Future, Void Storage, And More
Thanks to the generous actions of Dorago we have a new Vent server... again.  And this one won't be yanked out from under us with no warning.

There is a discussion thread started on the forums talking about the future of our guild.  Things are definitely going to change and if you have any input or suggestions we want to hear from you.

Blizzard has updated the costs involved with Void Storage.  Previously it was going to cost 1,000g to unlock the Void Storage feature, and 100g each time you wanted to desposit or withdraw something from storage.  Now it will cost 100g to unlock the feature, 25g each time you want to deposit something into storage, and no cost at all to withdraw something.  Those prices are much more reasonable.

There was another new build on the PTR and MMO-Champion is right on the datamining task.  There are a few Tier 13 set bonus changes, and epic profession crafted items were found.

News - October 5th 2011 - Notes And More Notes
The 4.3 PTR patch notes have been updated.  There are a few spell changes, the End Time 5-man and the new Baradin Hold boss are both ready for testing, ZA and ZA just got much shorter as now you'll only need to kill a couple of the bosses to reach the end, and there's a "promote everyone" option for raid groups that will bump everyone up to Raid Assistant.

To go along with the new notes, here's a list of datamined spell changes and another list of new ilevel 378 loot.

Valor Points are also getting a change in 4.3.  How many VPs you get and what your caps are for them are both being altered.  Make sure you read through these changes.
_________________________________________________________________________

News - October 4th 2011 - A Few Quick 4.3 Notes
Only a few new 4.3 notes to mention in today's update.  Chaos Orbs will become BoE meaning everyone will be able to roll on them when they drop and any orbs you currently have will become tradable.

We'd already heard about a melee DPS buff being given out in raids to help narrow the DPS margin with ranged classes, and the amount of that buff appears to be +20%, and will also include a +10% ranged attack power buff to Hunters as well.

And here's a screenshot showing off the new Reforging interface.

News - October 3rd 2011 - Nice Model Videos To Watch
MMO-Champion has provided a couple of nice model preview videos to watch.  Here is the video showing off the Tier 13 armors (sorry Death Knights, your armor still isn't on the PTR yet) and here's one showing off the models for new weapons from the Dragon Soul raid in 4.3.  I like that pretty much all the weapons have some kind of glow and/or animation effect.  Nice.

We now have some more details on the upcoming Inactive Guild Leader Replacement feature.  Basically if the guild leader hasn't logged on for 30 days the players with the next highest guild rank get a notification and the first one to accept the position gets it.

Sometimes the WoW parody webcomic The Daily Blink has hits and sometimes they have misses.  This latest comic is definitely in the "hit" category and is really funny.
