WELCOME!

ANNOUNCEMENT: I am excited to announce that I will be joining the faculty of the Department of Mathematics at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado next Fall. My Notre Dame email address should work until May (at least) and my IMA email address should make it through the summer. My yahoo and gmail addresses, of course, will continue to work.

I am an applied mathematician who works primarily on numerical methods for solving problems coming from science and engineering as well as pure mathematics. I am currently a second year postdoc at the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) at the University of Minnesota. I am also a Visiting Scholar at the University of Notre Dame (hence the ND email address and webpage).

My Ph.D. thesis was in the emerging field of numerical algebraic geometry, and my primary research is still in that field. However, my interests have grown rapidly as a postdoc, and I now have papers and projects in a number of fields, both in mathematics and in areas of application (such as electrical engineering). Polynomial systems are ubiquitous in the sciences and engineering, so my work has the potential for extending into many fields outside of mathematics over the course of my career.

Here is a list of my current research interests:

I am looking to expand my horizons into mathematical biology (the subject of the current IMA thematic year). I am also interested in the teaching of mathematics (both at the college level and K-12) so I may one day consider doing some research (or at least some software development) in that direction.
