Writing Requirements

Three two-page papers. How to format and submit papers.

A series of assignments in preparation for writing the seminar paper: an essay on critical approaches to one of the novels (four-five pages); a prospectus (one-two pages); a ten-page draft of the seminar paper

Seminar paper of about fifteen pages/4000 words (excluding notes and works cited). This paper replaces the final examination.

Class Meeting Requirements

Complete readings by the dates assigned.

Participate in class discussions.

Make assigned class presentations.

Attendance

You should attend all class meetings; more than three unexcused absences will result in the lowering of your grade.

Grades

The final grade will be computed as follows: short papers 20%; essay on critical approaches and prospectus 20%; the seminar paper 40%; class participation 20%.

The papers for this course must be the original work of the student in accord with the Academic Code of Honor.
