Carolyn Plummer's Notre Dame Home Page
Associate Professor of Violin in Department of
Music at the
University of Notre Dame.
Former Assistant Concertmaster of the Houston Symphony. Bachelor
of Music Degree from Indiana University and Master of Music Degree with
Honors in Violin Performance from the New England Conservatory, where I
studied with Joseph Silverstein and Charles Treger. Additional
teachers have included Urico Rossi, Raphael Bronstein, Dorothy Delay
and string quartet studies with William Primrose and members of the
Juilliard, Cleveland, Yale, and Bershire Quartets. Has served as
Concertmaster of the Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra and has
performed in the
Aspen Music Festival, "Strings in the Mountains" Festival in Steamboat
Springs, CO, Garth Newel Music Festival, the Interntional
Musikdorf
Masterclasses in Ernen, Switzerland. Extensive performances in
the U.S., and Europe with the Atlanta Virtuosi. Awarded second
place
in the Coleman Chamber Music Competition in Pasadena, CA. Made
Weill
Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall debut with the Notre Dame String Trio
performing
compositions of the 20th century. Extensive performances with my
twin sister,
Kathryn
Plummer,
who is a faculty violist at Vandebilt University and former violist
with the Blair String Quartet.
