| Center board trunk is constructed using ash and occume. The inside surfaces of the occume are varnished first with several coats. | The notch in the aft post is to fit under and lock in with the deck beam. | |||||
| Location in the bottom plank is marked where the cutting will be. Somehow this does not seem right to be sawing holes in the bottom of the boat. | ||||||
| Dagger board trunk fit into place. Notice how the deck beam fits with the aft trunk post. | Any epoxy/varnish is sanded off so there is a good waterproof seal when gluing down. Secured through the bottom with 1" screws. | |||||
| Keepin the coffee warm. | ||||||
| Most of the deck beams and carlens installed. | 7/8" X 7" ash mast bed mortised, glued and screwed in. Dummy mast pole is inserted in the 3" mast hole. A plum line is dropped to determine the 4" per 10' rake. | |||||
| For the laminated mast, I changed from the rubber band drive to a chain drive. A small sprocket is screwed to the end of the mast and a smaller one is chucked in the variable speed drill. This worked much better and reduced a lot of the wobble. | To further reduce the wobble while cutting, a set of chair casters are mounted mid way down the mast. | |||||
