| At the last minute I decided to install a forward hatch. Realizing there would not be much room to crawl under the deck to make any repairs. This changed the deck beam lay out quite a bit. | The forward king plank now only runs from the front of the cockpit to just forward of the dagger board trunk. | |||||||
| Forward king plank mortised glued and screwed in. Blocks are installed on the sides of the dagger board trunk to help support the deck beams in the middle of the trunk. | Deck knees of 3/4" sycamore are installed to help support the deck carlens. The only reason I used the Sycamore is because it was just laying around the shop. | |||||||
| This is after redoing the starboard carlin. The initial install of this side sagged a bit and would have shown terribly after decking. Although there is no picture, there is an aft king plank 7/8" X 3" installed. Mortised and glued in, it is also screwed to the transom. | View under the deck looking from the hatch aft. | |||||||
| In this view you can better see the profile and arch of the deck. | ||||||||
