SCS dissertation prize

I'm delighted to inform you that the Society for Cinema Studies
dissertation prize this year, to be awarded at the annual meeting in San
Diego, will go to Susan Ohmer for her study (completed at NYU in 1997)of
the Gallop organization and its introduction of film audience measurement
techniques. The dissertation will be published next year.
Susan, who is currently Visiting Assistant Professor at Michigan, will be
joining the ND faculty next fall in the American Studies department where
she will offer courses on television history and media.
