Ted and Jill,
Hope all is well in Indiana. Thought I'd drop you a line
concerning festivals and also to say "howdy." "Restroom" by J.Thorn, B.
Faiola and C. Grafton made the 1997 Rosebud Film Festival screenings in
Washington D.C. My latest film entitled "Days Gone By" screened at the
Lighthouse "8-12 Overture" in New York City during a screening session
funded by Columbia University. No other big screening news or festival
news as of right now, but that may change.
Secondly, Alan McIntyre Smith is alive and well in New York City
as I'm sure you well know. And last I knew, so was Marc Hillygus and Andy
Kris. More N.D. alumn arrive daily in the Big Apple it seems.
Third, Jill would be proud to know that I am starting to shoot a
documentary about bike messengers here in New York City. While everyone
else is making narratives that adhere to strict rules here at Columbia,
I'm subverting their plot points and antagonistic drives by doing a little
cinema verite. I'll keep you posted.
Fourth, Jill---did you ever get that photo I sent you?!? I'd love
to know because I had a gallery send it and if they never sent it, I will
ring their neck.
That's all for now,
your student who is still
learning a lot in NYC,
Jon Thorn, '96
