Shameless plea

Hello, everyone, I am Marisa "Boo" Gallagher, a senior
Anthropology/Film major from San Francisco. I will throw myself at your
mercy for contacts that will enable me to have a life after college
momentarily, but first I have another shameless plea to give. I am the
station manager at WVFI-the AM (but hopefully without too much more
struggle FM) station here at ND. We are always interested in getting new
people involved with all areas of radio- we even have spaces open for
air-shifts and dj subbing this semester-from news or sports to promotions
or community service involvement. Though this sounds like a plea to
students only, it really extends to faculty, staff, and alumni, too. If
any of you work in radio now, worked at WVFI or WSND while you were here,
are veterans of FCC paperwars, or are just interested in getting involved
with us, give me a call at (219) 631-6888 or (219) 243-5319. We would
eventually like VFI to realize its potential as a powerful resource for new
music and ideas and as a breeding ground for quality broadcasting. Greater
student, as well as alumni, faculty, and staff, involvement is vital to
making VFI a true college radio station.
As for the shameless plea for my future- I am interested in working
in promotions or production at a major market radio station or at a film
studio, especially at an independent or an indie-mainstream hybrid. If
anyone has tips on feasible pathways to such jobs, or any
information/contacts in the film or radio industries, I would deeply
appreciate it! Thanks for your time.
Take care,
Boo Gallagher
