The average American donates about 3% to charity each year,
regardless of his/her income, and regardless of the tax
consequences. Of those who file for tax deductions on
Schedule A, the average claim is for $2370 in charitable
donations.
Just thought you'd like to know where you stand.
For UND employees, the easiest way to give is through the
United Way. You may have political objections about the
omission of certain large but verboten organizations on the
list. But why take it out on the Boys and Girls
organization or the Women's Shelter, either of which could
be designated as the sole beneficiary of your largesse?
As Louie the Lizard said (or was it his pal?): "Let it go,
let it go."
Best wishes for a great holiday break.
