The 9th Annual Notre Dame Student Film Festival will be held Friday and
Saturday January 23rd and 24th at 7:30 and 9:45pm in the Snite Museum of
Art. In response to last year's overflowing crowd (over 1200), this year
we'll be selling advanced tickets ($2) for the first time. I'll pass along
the specifics on that a bit later.

The film fest features the best short films and videos produced by ND COTH
students over the past year in one of four film/video production courses
offered in the department. Also featured is a COTH Classic clip, a student
film (or two) from our Loft archives ranging from the "Peter Frampton"
BetaMax days of the late '70's, through the "Der Kommisar" 3/4 " videotape
of the eighties, to the more recent "Right Said Fred" BetaSP of the
nineties. I'm looking for nominations for this year's classic clip from
past alums (here's your chance!).

Originated in February 1991, the film fest was held in the basement of the
CCE, and attended by about 50-60 people. (reflections from those of you at
the original fest are welcome here...)
Now, the SFFest (I've created a new ND acronym!) features 12-15 films, runs
approximately 90 minutes long, and sold out every 1997 showing in the Snite.

Contrary to rumor, we will not be offering the seminar "How to signoff a
listserv" before this year's film fest.

Cheers!
