Ooops! That's Mr.Spock, not me. But we have about the same personality, except I have a better sense of humor (he just never gets my jokes!).
My official name is Steven Michael Desch, but you can call me Steve, or Desch, or Smash, or Max, or Spock, or Dr Zap, or just "Hey, you!". I was born in the flatlands of Ohio, Coldwater to be exact, but I was raised in beautiful, rural Davie County, North Carolina. This wonderful plac e is just outside of Winston-Salem, proud home of R.J. Reynolds Cancer Stick Company (otherwise known as cigarettes). Here's a birds eye view of Mocksville, county seat of, and at pop. 3500 the largest town in, Davie County:
And, wonder of wonders, Mocksville even has its own homepage! (technology has made it to the sticks).
As I have not mentioned before, I graduated from the University of Notre Dame as one of less than ten senior physics majors. We were an extremely cool bunch, in fact I personally am so hip that I have trouble seeing over my own pelvis! (please laugh) I also just received a Masters degree in astronomy from Michigan State University. But I will always remain a devoted fan of Notre Dame.
Now I work at the
Impression 5 Science Center in
Lansing, MI. My primary job is making and repairing exhibits, but I also
give public demonstrations like Slime and Simple Machines.
Maybe some day I'll get some pictures of the fam up here. But until then here's a little info about them. My dad and stepmother, Tom and Sarah, still live in Davie County, while my mom, Barb, just sold my childhood home :( and moved to Kalamazoo, MI with my stepdad Don. Also I have two younger sisters. Katie (the older younger sister) is in graduate school at The University of Northern Colorado studying to become a band director. Laurie (the younger younger sister) is at The University of North Carolina where she's on her way to becoming a musician. She plays guitar and writes her own songs and stuff. We all attended Davie County High School (go War Eagles!).
