Communion and Liberation is a worldwide lay movement based on "the conviction that the Christian event, lived in communion, is the foundation of the authentic liberation of man."
"Communion and Liberation began in Italy in 1954 when Msgr. Luigi Giussani established a Christian presence in Berchet high school in Milan... it is present today in about seventy countries throughout the world. There is no type of membership card, but only the free participation of persons. The basic instrument for the formation of adherents is weekly catechesis, called 'School of Community.'
"CLU (Communion and Liberation / University) is the place for college students who have been struck by the truth of the Movement and who want to live their daily reality on campus in a new, different and beautiful way. The purpose is a friendship, a life together, taking root from the deepest needs of the heart. Whether relating Monsignor Giussani's words to our experience through the School of Community, learning to give freely of ourselves through the charitable work, or having dinner together to judge the important events of our lives, what the CLU brings is a meaningful and sustained way to face life."

Notre Dame's CLU group meets weekly for the School of Community, participates regularly in charitable work, and hosts retreats and social events throughout the school year. Members also participate in events with the national (and sometimes interational!) Communion and Liberation community. All are welcome! Please join us. School of Community might be the perfect place to start.
ND CLU comes together for School of Community (SoC) every Friday at 5pm in the McNeill room of the LaFortune student center. (Note: This schedule may change each semester.) These meetings involve prayer, reading (from the writings of the founder, Msgr. Guissani), and a lively discussion that relates the reading to our experiences and insights. The goal of School of Community is to give us a clearer understanding of the Christian reality that guides and illuminates our lives. (
