Agarose Gel Documentation with the Digital Camera in the Huber Lab

1. Log onto the computer using Kay’s account (ask her for password). Go to ‘Programs’ from the bottom left button.

2. Select: Kodak digital 3.0 (Do not use shortcut)

3. Put gel onto illuminator to the right of the computer, in tray from gel box, and place screen around it.

4. Set camera on top of screen, aligning with the white corner marks.

5. Open the shutter, located at the top of the camera on the left side, slide out left.

6. Turn on UV source.

7. Select ‘File -> Acquire’.

8. Select ‘Ethidium Bromide’ ...or other stain parameters. Use exposure 0.5 sec for a bright gel.

9. See picture, adjust as necessary.

10. Save as JPEG to mfinn AFS public space. Later, use a computer in our lab to transfer the file to your own AFS space.
