- Agricultural biotechnology This web site is a really superb summary of biotechnology applied to crop plants. It also has policy background and many links to news articles and other web sites.
- Issues in Ecology Excellent set of white papers from the Ecological Society of America. Papers include Human Impact on the Global Nitrogen Cycle, Ecosystem Services, and Non-point P and K pollution. Reports are ~20-30 pp long.
- Report on chemical analysis of Nulex brand zinc fertilizer. Includes manufacturing process and bulk and trace metal analysis, also toxicity data.
- Worldwatch Institute " Worldwatch is a nonprofit public policy research organization dedicated to informing policymakers and the public about emerging global problems and trends and the complex links between the world economy and its environmental support systems."
- Web page of the late Julian Simon, including complete text of the latest edition of "The Ultimate Resource". Simon's position is that Malthusian predictions of doom have not and will not come true, and he provides a lot of evidence to back it up.

- US Senate This web site is the gateway to other Senate web sites, including current and past hearings, the web sites for individual Senators, and information about current bills.
- US House of Representatives Links to individual representatives, roll-call voting results, searchable committee hearing reports, and access to the US code of laws.
- Project Vote Smart is a true bipartisan organization (any group with both Newt Gingrich and Geraldine Ferraro on the board has got to be pretty bipartisan!) whose mission is to disseminate information on political candidates and issues. Contains links to hundreds of think-tanks and non-profit organizations from all sides of the political spectrum.
- The Heritage Foundation is a prototypical conservative think tank. They are active in congressional testimony and the feeding of news media. They put out useful fact sheets and list many links to other (mostly conservative) organizations. You might be interested in their report on global warming.
- The Environmental Defense Fund and Greenpeace are prototypical environmental organizations. News releases, Greenwire, and reports on environmental topics can be accessed at these sites. See for example a glitzy presentation on global warming prepared by the EDF.

- What are the costs of driving, American style? According to the Center for Technology Assessment, if all the costs borne by society were included in the price of gas, it would cost between $5 and $15/gallon. Another organization, Public Purpose, presents a case that shows that drivers actually pay more in tolls and gas taxes than they cost in road construction and maintainance. Are they both right? Both wrong?
