| Announcement:
In recent years, research on nuclear isomers has generated
a lot of excitements. There are interesting new trends besides the
continuing efforts in understanding isomers in traditional mass
regions. The research is extended to exotic nuclei in proton- and
neutron-rich regions, and to those superheavy nuclei. The interest
is not only limited in nuclear structure itself, but extended to
exploring the applications of isomers in nuclear astrophysics as
well as in other applied studies, for example, triggering the isomer
decay.
The organizers of CGS-12
will hold an isomer workshop on Sunday, September 4. It will include,
but not limited to, the following topics:
- New experimental possibilities for isomer study in exotic nuclei
- Direction of theoretical developments in isomer description
- New examples, novel types of isomers
- Triggering the isomer decay and related applications
- Impact of isomeric states in nucleonsynthesis in stars
All CGS-12 participants who are in town already are welcome to attend. For workshop
registration (no fee required) and any other request please
contact Prof.
Yang Sun (ysun@nd.edu) as soon
as possible.
