Late Cretaceous and Early Tertiary continental stratigraphy - western interior of North America; sedimentology of clay-pebble conglomerates; abrasion of clasts and vertebrate remains as in index of transport and/or surface exposure; paleobiology; biostratigraphy; extinction; evolution and biometrics of Cretaceous and Early Tertiary vertebrate faunas; Cretaceous-tertiary boundary biotic crisis and mass extinction; 3-D modeling of vertebrate fossils and computer management of natural variability and ancient atmospheric gases and their effect upon organism extinction and survival.
