Department of Psychology
University of Notre Dame
PSY 20001 Introductory Psychology PSI
This course is typically offered each Fall and Spring. The instructional format for the class is a modified version of a method developed by Fred Keller known as the "Personalized System of Instruction," or PSI. I came in contact with this format as a graduate student and began to experiment with it at Notre Dame in 1976. Since then, we have adapted and refined various aspects of Keller's original procedures. The course has been extremely popular with students and we have written several articles on our experiences with PSI at Notre Dame. In the links below, you will find the course syllabus, one of our articles on the course, and two of the classic background articles on the PSI method.
