The Center for Children and Families (CCF) is a dynamic setting for advancing the well-being of children and families through basic and applied research, the dissemination of research findings, and service. Divorce and marital discord, physical and sexual abuse, child neglect, and inappropriate parenting often result in serious developmental delays for millions of children each year. Families under stress - due to interparental conflicts, financial crises, or mental illness - are often unable to maintain or strengthen their marriages, and support their children’s development through active, positive parenting practices. These pressing social problems require intense, research-based study and innovative applied programs aimed at strengthening positive family functioning and stability if they are to be solved in our lifetime.
