Maya Samples I Have Made

Inserting Synthetic Objects into Real Scenes

Utilizing lighting information a synthetic background plate is used.  Then a chrome ball is used to analyze the lighting information which allows synthetic objects to be 'lit'.  Finally, a plane can be used to allow shadows to be cast and now objects can be inserted into the scene.

Synthesizing Real World Objects into Synthetic Objects

First, we find a real life object, in this case Mr. Corkscrew.  Then we physically separate out the different components and scan each individually using a tactile scanner.  Then the components are imported into maya and textured appropriately to simulate the real world materials.  Next, we model their physical properties/characteristics within maya to allow for the gears to move together, and the cork to act as a spring.  Finally we model him to do things like jumping jacks or break dancing.  Downloading the movie and playing it with the repeat option can be particularly mesmorizing.
