Student Awards and Achievements

  • Rohit Jacob, Joel Rambaldini and Chris Ziener - all 2009 master of business administration (MBA) students - finished in first place at the first MBA case competition between MBA students from the University of Michigan and the University of Notre Dame. The competition was designed, conducted, sponsored and judged by Bearing Point.

  • Margot Woolley, Keith Flatley, Gabriel Kacarab, Rohit Jacob and Clint Branam – all first-year master of business administration (MBA) students – finished in first place and won $6,000 in the recent HABLA Case Competition hosted by the Johnson School at Cornell University.

  • University of Notre Dame students Will McLeod (ND '08), Ryan Tatzel (ND '08) and Danielle Truskowski (ND '08) and 2007 graduate Michael Stacey (MBA '07), won the $10,000 grand prize in the inaugural “Indiana Collegiate Idol” business competition. Team SolarShade won for designing a technology that transforms windows and skylights into “smart windows” with changeable glazes at the touch of a button. SolarShade bested 15 other collegiate entries from across the state.

  • Anne Marie Quast (MBA '08) was named one of the three best presenters in Baylor University's National MBA Case Competition in Ethical Leadership.

  • The Department of Accountancy has awarded twenty scholarships to Fall 2007 junior accountancy majors. The scholarships are primarily merit-base and will consider overall GPA, business GPA, grades in two accountancy classes, and a brief essay. Funding for the scholarships is made available through the generosity of Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. (list of scholarship recipients)

  • Lindsay Saelinger (Accountancy, ND '08) and Joseph Varchetto (Finance, ND '08) are the recipients of the 2007 Eugene D. Fanning Award. Their selection for this award is an acknowledgement of their achievements in the classroom and their success as students at Notre Dame. 

  • Brynn Harris (MSA '06) and Allison Ogilvy (MBA '07) took the Grand Prize in the 2007 Arthur W. Page Society Case Writing Competition in Corporate Communications. Their case study, "Google: Entrance into the Chinese Market and Government Censorship" was selected from 39 entries.

  • Department of Accountancy Senior Student Awards were given to 19 graduating accountancy students in May 2007. (list of award winners)
  • Meghan Carter, Matthew McHale and Thomas Triscari (all MBA '07) won First Prize-Business Schools with "Bristol Myers Squibb: Patents, Profits and Public Scrutiny" in the 2007 Arthur W. Page Society Case Writing Competition in Corporate Communications.
