In 1855, under the direction of Father Sorin, Brother Francis Patois designed a complex of buildings to sit behind the golden dome. During the last 150 years, these buildings have served as home to everything from a convent to a printing company, graduate student housing to the University kitchen. Today, a number of diverse offices share space in a newly renovated Brownson Hall. The Family Studies Center is one such office that walks in the shadow of the distinguished history of this building.
