Meet the Babes
Rector
Rachel Kellogg (rkellog1@nd.edu)
Hello and congratulations-- you are a member of the BP family! I am your Rector (not, as you might hear, "Rectress"). I grew up the oldest of a large family, and have degrees in Theatre Arts and English. I've been in BP for three years and I love my job. My own interests include reading, writing, travel, various artistic endeavors, and talking. I am also known for my strong devotion to coffee :) Welcome home!!
Assistant Rectors
Karen Frevert (kfrevert@nd.edu)
Hometown: Plymouth, MN
MBA, Marketing Concentration
Interesting fact: I failed my first test in undergrad, but luckily rebounded quickly.
Advice: Keep an open mind, when I was a freshman, I’d have never imagined I’d be where I am today.
I graduated from St. Olaf College in 2005 with two degrees in Spanish and Music. I still play the violin and love to speak Spanish. I studied abroad in Spain for six months while at St. Olaf and can’t wait to go back there sometime soon.
I’m from Minnesota and LOVE the Minnesota Twins baseball team. I’m getting my MBA in marketing and have interests in international and brand marketing as well as arts management.
Annalee Janke(ajanke@nd.edu)
Hey ladies! My name is Annalee Janke, and I am excited to be one of your ARs next year. So a little bit about me...I just survived 1L, and now I am a second year at Notre Dame Law School! I grew up on a dairy farm in a very small town in the Texas Panhandle, but after living in Central Texas during undergrad, I now call the Dallas/Fort Worth area home. This past summer, I stayed in South Bend to work as a research assistant for one of the law professors - I learned A LOT about environmental law. In 2007, I graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas where I was a political science major and philosophy minor. I would have to say that my all-time favorite class in undergrad was called Social World where we read lots of Plato, Aristotle, Aquinas, and Locke. So far, my favorite law school class has been either Constitutional Law or Property. A couple of other random facts...I have one sister who is a senior at Brown; I am a big coffee fan (and hot tea!); I have had lots of random jobs through the years - from R.A. to gas station attendant!; the most random place I've been is Turkey (the country); my favorite childhood books were the Chronicles of Narnia; and I love to cook. I am excited to get to know you all next year!
Resident Assistants
Karuna Anantharaman(kanantha@nd.edu)
Hello ladies, and welcome to the Best Place on campus! I am Karuna Anantharaman, a pre-med major who is really excited be an RA in 2 North. I have spent my pre-ND life in various parts of India [yeah, long ways], and that included a boarding school for seven years. ND has been a fantastic three years thus far, and I can’t wait to share the awesomeness with all of you. As you prepare to come here, remember to pack warm [especially people from warmer places…this is important, speaking from experience], and make sure you bring an open mind and heart. And feel free to stop by just about anytime, for your chocolate fix, to watch a chick-flick or quality shows such as Arrested Development, or to simply talk about anything under the sun. In the meantime, shoot any questions via email, and get ready for an incredible time with some incredible people.
Kim Churbock (kchurboc@nd.edu)
Hi girls! I can’t wait to meet all of you in person in the fall, but until then, let me tell you a little more about myself. I’m from Hudson, Ohio (a little town outside of Cleveland), but grew up near Pittsburgh and will always be a diehard Steelers fan! I’m majoring in Biological Sciences with a supplementary major in Spanish and a minor in Catholic Social Tradition. After graduation, I’m hoping to go on to medical school to pursue a career in pediatrics, neonatology, or public health, even though my secret ambition is to one day write for National Geographic. When I’m not busy being the 2 South RA, I can often be found at the CSC--if you’re interested in getting involved with service or social justice issues around campus, then come talk to me! I also enjoy reading and running, and love kids, country music, and anything to do with Mexico (best study abroad experience ever…come by to see pictures)! Stop by 235 any time; my door’s always open!
Anne Huff (ahuff@nd.edu)
Hi Babes! My name is Anne Huff and I will be the RA in 3-South this year. I can’t wait to meet and get to know all of you! First, a little about me…I am a senior marketing major and Italian minor from Fairfield, CT. And while I absolutely love life on the east coast, Notre Dame is by far one of my favorite places and I can’t imagine being anywhere else. Basically, I love all things Irish (even though I have absolutely none of that nationality in me whatsoever), from football games, to movies on the quad, to the great dining hall selections, and most importantly, to all of the amazing people at Notre Dame. Some of my hobbies include, but are not limited to: singing (I’m in the Notre Dame Liturgical Choir), playing tennis, reading, lounging on the beach in Cape Cod, and traveling. I spent my fall semester of 2007 in Rome, so I love all things Italian and am dearly missing authentic mozzarella and pizza. But going to a school like Notre Dame has definitely made the transition back to the U.S. a lot easier! Anyway, I hope you all are having a relaxing summer and I can’t wait to see you when you get to campus!
Jessica Mannen(jmannen@nd.edu)
Hi! I’m Jessica, and I’ll be the RA for all you lovely ladies on the first floor. I’m from outside Portland, Oregon, where my family has a small sheep farm. I’m majoring in music and theology, and I’ll probably end up working in music ministry, both liturgical and educational. I’m in the Notre Dame Folk Choir, one of the choirs that sing at a weekly Mass at the Basilica. I also lead the music for BP Masses, so be sure to contact me if you’d like to sing with us! I recently designed a music curriculum for the youths in detention at the Juvenile Justice Center here in South Bend, and teaching there unexpectedly introduced me to the loves of my life. In other news, I’m obsessed with Will Ferrell, which will become apparent once you step onto the first floor. I’m looking forward to meeting all of you! Welcome to the Notre Dame Family!
Katie McAnany(kmcanany@nd.edu)
Hi and Welcome to BP Hall! I'll be the RA for 3 North this year. I'm from Kansas City, Kansas--the heart of the Midwest. I can't wait to meet all of you and learn all your stories. I love to be involved, especially in the dorm, and I've been the Hall President, our signature event coordinator (the Meal Auction) and a section representative during my time here at Notre Dame. As a Pre-Medicine and Spanish major (and with a minor in Catholic Social Teaching) I stay busy, but always make service and friends a priority. I also studied abroad in Mexico--and therefore love all things Mexican. I'll be applying to Medical School this fall, but I also can't wait for football season! Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns or general enthusiasm about the Irish! Welcome to Notre Dame--I'm so glad you're part of our family!
Tara McCarron(tmccarr1@nd.edu)
I am a math major from Beltsville, Maryland. This will be my fourth year living in BP, but my first time living on the fourth floor. I love food, intramural sports, reality TV, and mini-dance parties during the week beginning with Macarena Mondays. Last semester, I studied abroad in Rome where I became addicted to espresso, saw a lot of ancient ruins, and dodged vespas while exploring the city. I missed Notre Dame a lot though, and I can’t wait to be back next year. I met a lot of my best friends in BP and I am really excited to meet all of you!
