Research Interests

I am a second year graduate student interested in fisheries and stream ecology. I am planning a project to study the impacts of introduced salmon on stream ecosystems in the Great Lakes . Specifically, I plan to explore how the presence of salmon alters nutrient dynamics, substrate disturbance regimes, periphyton growth, and macroinvertebrate and fish community structure in Great Lakes tributaries. I also want to determine whether salmon are acting as significant transporters of organic pollutants to streams during their spawning migrations and what the implications may be for environmental and human health.
