It is the policy and practice of The University of Notre Dame to provide reasonable accommodations for students with properly documented disabilities. Students who have questions about Sara Bea Accessibility Services or who have, or think they may have, a disability are invited to contact Sara Bea Accessibility Services for a confidential discussion by emailing at sarabeacenter@nd.edu or by phone at 574-631-7157. Because the University’s Academic Accommodations Processes generally require students to request accommodations well in advance of the dates when they are needed, students who believe they may need an accommodation for this course are encouraged to contact Sara Bea Accessibility Services at their earliest opportunity. Additional information about Sara Bea Accessibility Services and to learn more about the student process for requesting accommodations, please visits Accessibility Support.

Policy on the course grade: After each exam, a cutoff will be announced as an indication on how well your performance is on the exam. The final exam is cumulative, and if you do very well in the final exam, the final exam score, rescaled by 100/150, will replace one of your lowest mid-term scores. The course grade will be based on a total score of 550.

Homework: Homework problems will be assigned here well in advance of the due date and will be collected online on Canvas. Most of the homework are due on Wednesdays, exceptions are noted in the homework webpage. The main purpose of the homework is to help you learn the material. Experience shows that students who take their homework seriously do very well in the course because they have a better understanding of the material. Each homework set is worth 10 points. The lowerst 3 scores of your homework will be droppped from calculation. Unexcused late homework carries a penalty of 0.5 points per day, so a homework which is late for 20 days or more will not be credited. Questions regarding homework grading should be addressed to your tutorial instructor.

Here are some Matlab instructions: Matlab Lesson #1, Matlab Lesson #2,  Matlab Lesson #3,  Matlab Lesson #4.

Attendance policy: We do not track attendance, but you are required to attend all lectures and tutorials.

Missed exams: A student who misses an examination will receive zero points for that exam unless he or she has written permission from the Dean's Office/Office of Student Affairs/Sara Bea Accessibility Service/Health Services/Atheletic Department. We honor all official written requests from Notre Dame; emails sent from these offices are considered written permissions. If you have a valid excuse (illness, excused athletic absence etc) for missing an exam, please see your instructor ASAP (preferably before the exam) and a makeup exam will be scheduled.

Exam conflicts: The exam conflicts are governed by Academic Code. Students with 2 exams at the same time, or 3 or more exams in one day, or 4 or more exams in a 24 hour period, may negotiate to change the time of one of these exams. If you intend to request a change of time for your regular exam, please see your instructor as soon as possible. If you intend to request to have the time of your ACMS 20550 final changed, you must talk to your instructor by Nov 26.

Honor Code: Both examinations and homework are conducted under the honor code. While discussion in small groups in doing homework is permitted (and strongly encouraged) in this course, the work should be your own. Exams are closed book and are to be done completely by yourself with no help from others.
