Mission Statement
Audit & Advisory Services (AAS) shall assist the Board of Trustees, Officers and members of management by providing guidance and assurance that the goals and objectives of the University's academic and business units are achieved in a manner commensurate with the ethical standards and Catholic values of the University.
To this end, AAS shall facilitate the effective execution of its responsibilities by:
- Identifying and evaluating those risks inherent to the University (e.g., business, operational, financial, information technology, reputation, etc.);
- Reviewing University operations to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulatory agencies, as well as management instructions, policies and procedures;
- Recommending enhancements to the current operational and technological environment to achieve and ensure the economy, effectiveness and efficiency of its academic and business units.
The access and authority of AAS to carry out its responsibilities has been defined in the President's Letter.

- Philip J.
Iapalucci Jr., CPA, MBA, Director
Phil joined AAS in November 1998. Prior to working at ND, he worked for Eastman Kodak, Inc. for seven and a half years, rising to Director of Corporate Accounting. While at Kodak, his previous duties included auditing of US operations and the Asian Pacific region. Phil began his professional career working four years at Deloitte & Touche in Charlotte, North Carolina, serving a diverse client base. Phil is a 1986 graduate of West Virginia University and received his MBA from Notre Dame in 1991.

Miller, CPA, MBA, Audit Manager
Jeremy joined AAS in May 2002. Before coming to the University, he was employed by Crowe Chizek & Company LLC as a staff auditor in the Commercial Services Group. While at Crowe, his duties included performing and planning audits, reviews and compilations, as well as preparing and reviewing tax returns. His primary area of audit responsibility with AAS is the Athletic Department, including NCAA compliance. From January 2005 through July 2006, he also worked as a Business Process Analyst on the University's Banner HR/Payroll module implementation team. Jeremy graduated from Purdue University in 1999 with a BS in Accounting and earned his MBA from Notre Dame in 2002.
- Andrew C. Roeder, CPA, MSA, Senior Audit Consultant
Andy joined AAS in November 2003. He comes to us from Ernst & Young LLP in Indianapolis where he was employed as a Senior Auditor. Andy obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Indiana University and his Masters in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame. In his capacity as a Senior Audit Consultant, Andy's primary responsibility will be auditing the University's construction activities.
- Timothy Wright, MS, CISSP, CISA,
Senior IT Audit Consultant
Tim joined AAS in November 2004. For the past several years, he has worked in the financial sector as a computer fraud and abuse investigator and more recently as an Information Security Officer. Prior to joining AAS, Tim spent more than two years in the University's Office of Information Technology as part of the Information Security department. Tim has earned a BS in Computer Science and BA in Philosophy from Indiana University, as well as an MS in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
- Charles E. Keller, CPA, Senior Audit Consultant
Charlie joined AAS in August 2005. He came to Notre Dame from the University of Portland, where he graduated in May 2005 with a BBA in Accounting and a Theology minor. As an undergraduate, Charlie managed his own commercial fishing business on the Oregon Coast. His primary responsibility with AAS will be monitoring and auditing the University’s compliance with the Office of Management and Budget Circular A-133 (i.e., governmental accounting standards).
- Aaron Frick, CIA, MBA, Senior Audit Consultant
Aaron joined AAS in October 2008. He previously worked at Conn-Selmer, Inc., as a Business Process/Compliance Manager. While at Conn-Selmer, his duties included Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and process improvement in the corporate office. Aaron graduated from Indiana State University in 2000 with degrees in Finance and Economics and earned an MBA from Butler University in 2004.
- Kelli R. Kalisik, Audit Consultant
Kelli joined AAS in September 2006. Prior to joining AAS, she was employed at the University in the Academic Services for Student-Athletes department. Kelli graduated from Notre Dame in 2003 with a BBA in Management. She received her Master of Arts in Education from the University of Michigan in 2004. Kelli's responsibilities with AAS will include the conflict of interest circulation and auditing student activities/academic departments.
- Mindy R. Epley, Senior Administrative Assistant
Mindy joined AAS in June 2004. She comes to the University from Quality Dining, Inc., where she was employed as a Safety & Security Assistant in the Legal Department for nine years. Prior to that, she was a stay-at-home mom for four years. Mindy began her professional career working eight years at First Citizens Bank, N.A., in Michigan City, Indiana.
