Writing the Paper

Once you have a topic, a thesis statement, an outline, and enough research information, you begin to write the paper. The outline should help you present your information clearly so the reader can easily follow your train of thought. Correct grammar is crucial to establish your credibility and enhance the clarity of your writing. Many books and online sites are available to help with this.

Be sure to fully develop the ideas presented in your paper. Do not just rely on broad, somewhat vague statements. Give details and supporting evidence to validate and explain the points you are making.

Throughout the writing process, whether dealing with the mechanics or the development of ideas, the Writing Center can be very helpful. Also, many professors are willing to look at a rough draft and give feedback before you write the final draft.
