EligibilityTo be eligible for intercollegiate athletics, students must meet conference and NCAA standards. The NCAA requires that student-athletes pass a minimum of 24 credit hours per year in order to maintain eligibility. Of these 24 credit hours, 75 percent (18) must be earned during the regular academic year. Only 25 percent (6) may be earned during the summer session. Additionally, student-athletes must meet the Notre Dame measure of good academic standing by earning the following minimum semester grade point averages:
There are no exceptions to these rules for eligibility. It is important to note that the summer session GPA can be combined with the spring semester GPA, if needed to become eligible for the fall semester. However, only classes taken on campus or through approved ND abroad programs are calculated into the summer GPA.
