| n the spring of 2004, Academic Services hosted the 12th annual Academic Excellence Dinner celebrating the academic achievement of student-athletes. Student-athletes who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and higher were recognized. Those in attendance included the University President and other officers, college deans, members of the Faculty Board on Athletics, Athletic Department administrators, and coaches. The evening was highlighted by an address from Jim Towey, Director of the White House Office of Faith-Based & Community Initiatives.
