Research Funding/Positions Available

Research Funding

Current research funding derives from two sources: National Institutes of Health (federal), and Omicron Biochemicals, Inc. (private). The NIH-funded project period is May 2001-April 2005. Funds from Omicron Biochemicals are available annually for an indefinite period.

Undergraduate Research

Positions are available for 1-2 undergraduate research assistants per academic year. Summer research stipends are also occasionally available. Please contact Professor Serianni for more information (phone: 219-631-7807; fax: 219-631-6924; email: serianni.1@nd.edu).

Graduate Research Fellowships

Graduate research fellowships will be available in the 2001-2002 academic year for qualified students. These fellowships (Omicron Research Fellowships in Structural Biology) begin in the second year of study towards the Ph.D. and extend for 3-4 years. Interested applicants should contact Professor Serianni for more information (phone: 219-631-7807; fax: 219-631-6924; email: serianni.1@nd.edu).

Postdoctoral Positions

Postdoctoral positions vary in number depending on available research support. The laboratory is currently accepting applications for two postdoctoral positions to support work on the above-mentioned NIH project (see following advertisement). Please contact Professor Serianni for more information (phone: 219-631-7807; fax: 219-631-6924; email: serianni.1@nd.edu).

POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS AT NOTRE DAME

Structural Studies of Oligosaccharides

Two NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are available immediately in the area of oligosaccharide structure determination. Successful candidates will have Ph.D. training in oligosaccharide synthesis (chemical/enzymic), NMR/X-ray crystallography and/or computational chemistry (electronic structure/MD). Experience with isotopic labeling is desirable. Send curriculum vitae and names/addresses of three references to: Prof. Anthony S. Serianni, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN 46556-5670 (serianni.1@nd.edu; www.nd.edu/~aseriann). The University of Notre Dame is an equal-opportunity/affirmative action employer.
