is committed to educating artists in a world where photographic imagery and new media representations pervade our everyday experiences

The Master of Fine Arts curriculum centers on graduate courses, critiques, and independent study as students devote most of their time to creating a distinctive body of work. The academic courses stress relevant history and critical theory.

The individual critiques and photo area seminars form the basis for dialogue about ongoing work. Students and faculty meet weekly for critiques and seminars. All graduate students are given individual studio space in Riley Hall and access to all photography facilities. The open design of the curriculum allows for and encourages interdisciplinary study throughout the program.

Students with exceptional experience and training will have an opportunity to teach an undergraduate course in photography. During the third year of residency, all MFA candidates must present a final thesis project and pass a faculty review of this work in order to graduate.
