The play Arcadia will run from Tuesday, April 12, to Saturday, April 23, as part of the inaugural season of the new DeBartolo Center for the Performing Arts. See the performance schedule for dates and times. Notre Dame's Arcadia will be directed by Jay Skelton, a much applauded director from Chicago.

Tickets may be ordered by calling the Ticket Office of the Center for the Performing Arts at 631-2800. If ordered in a block of ten or more, tickets cost $5 each for faculty or students. On Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23, the University will host "Arcadia at Notre Dame", a conference that will take up the themes:

  • Nature and Science: The Changing Scientific Picture of the World
  • Nature and Art: From Classicism to Romanticism

The conference will be held in the Browning Cinema of the DeBartolo Center for the Performing Arts.

So as to have insight into the number of participants, the organizers ask that attendees Register in advance.

Diana Matthias, the Snite Museum's Curator of Education & Academic Programs, is ready to enliven the experience of the students in any of these courses and seminars by leading them on a tour of some 18th and early 19th century portraits and landscapes at the museum with themes that are closely related to some of the ideas - both humorous and solemn - that are in Arcadia. To provide a preview of this, Diana has prepared a power point presentation that is available to borrow from her by request at Diana.C.Matthias.2@nd.edu or Phone: 631-4718. Museum tours may also be arranged by contacting Diana.
