In American Studies, students explore and study American culture and society in challenging and innovative ways. Our interdisciplinary curriculum features courses taught by department faculty as well as cross-listed classes offered by Anthropology, English, Political Science, History, and Sociology. Katie O'Connell - 1991, Sr. Vice President of Drama Development, NBC Entertainment
A 1991 graduate of the American Studies program, O'Connell has led the pilot development and launch of first-year series "Chuck," "Life," "Bionic Woman" and "Journeyman," as well as the popular series "30 Rock," and currently is supervising a line-up of 60 potential drama projects, working with prominent writers and directors including Barry Sonnenfeld, Tom Fontana and Dick Wolf.
