What is American Studies?

In American Studies, students explore and study American culture and society in challenging and innovative ways. Our interdisciplinary curriculum features courses taught by department faculty as well as cross-listed classes offered by Anthropology, English, Political Science, History, and Sociology. Katie O'Connell - 1991, Sr. Vice President of Drama Development, NBC Entertainment

A 1991 graduate of the American Studies program, O'Connell has led the pilot development and launch of first-year series "Chuck," "Life," "Bionic Woman" and "Journeyman," as well as the popular series "30 Rock," and currently is supervising a line-up of 60 potential drama projects, working with prominent writers and directors including Barry Sonnenfeld, Tom Fontana and Dick Wolf.  Learn More >
