Mechanical Testing Laboratory

The Mechanical Testing Laboratory is co-directed by Glen L. Niebur and Ryan K. Roeder and located in 990 square feet of space. Major equipment includes a Bose ELectroForce 3300 electromagnetic test instrument with biaxial loading to a capacity of 4400 N/28 N-m; an Instron 8821 servo-hydraulic biaxial load frame with an Instron model 8800 controller; an MTS servo-hydraulic load frame; and one screw-driven testing machine. Computerized data acquisition is available for all systems. The lab maintains a comprehensive collection of fixtures and load cells. A full time technician is available to provide support for experimental setup, data acquisition and maintenance.
