AME Undergraduate Elective Courses
Mechanical Engineering ElectivesMechanical Engineering AME Technical Electives
Any course that is 30000-level or higher with an AME prefix that is not otherwise required by the Mechanical Engineering curriculum may be used to satisfy an AME Technical Elective requirement in the Mechanical Engineering program.
Mechanical Engineering General Technical ElectivesMost, but not all, 30000-level or higher courses offered by the Colleges of Engineering or Science that are not otherwise required by the Mechanical Engineering curriculum may satisfy the Technical Elective requirement.
Specifically, any course with a prefix AME, CBE, CE, ENVG, CSE, EE, EG, BIOS, CHEM, MATH, PHYS or SC that is 30000-level or higher may be used to satisfy the Technical Elective requirement with the following exceptions and additions:
- MATH 30650 may not be used to satisfy the Technical Elective requirment, and
- any course from the following list may also be used to satisfy a Technical Elective requirement:
- CBE 20258 Computer Methods in Chemical Engineering
- CSE 20232 C/C++ Programming
- MATH 20340 Statistics for Life Sciences
- MATH 20810 Honors Algebra I
- MATH 20820 Honors Algebra II
- PHYS 20230 Elements of Modern Physics
- CHEM 20223 Elementary Organic Chemistry I
- CHEM 20224 Elementary Organic Chemistry II
- BIOS 20201 General Biology A
- BIOS 20202 General Biology B
- three credits from a completed ROTC program on campus.
Limitation on Non-classroom courses
Only a total of 6 credits of non-classroom courses, such as AME 48491, Undergraduate Research and AME 47099, Special Studies, may be counted toward degree requirements.
