The following is information related to applications for study abroad next fall. Please read carefully if you are interested in participating.
1. London, U.K.: The following courses will be offered in London during the fall, 2007 semester.
(a) Differential Equations, Vibrations and Controls I (taught by an AME faculty from campus who will go to London for the semester).
(b) Fluid Mechanics (taught by an adjunct professor who lives in London).
(c) Another AME course (not yet decided) taught by the same AME faculty who teaches (a) above, and which may be an elective or required course depending on what it is and whether you are AE or ME.
(d) You are required to take the 3-credit course Image of Britain through the Arts; this will satisfy your university Fine Arts requirement.
(e) There will be other non-AME courses that the International Studies Office can tell you about. I don't have any information on those.
2. Perth, Australia: Please look at the Webpage
http://www.nd.edu/%7Ecneal/uwa/Eng_Quiv_Courses.html
but with the following corrections.
(a) If you take Calculus Methods MATH2223, this course will be considered equivalent to our Differential Equations, Vibrations and Controls I only if upon return you take zero-credit self-study courses for the Vibrations and Controls parts.
(b) Control and Mechatronics ENGT 3421 is NOT equivalent to our Differential Equations, Vibrations and Controls I.
(c) For AE students only: If you take Environmental Fluid Mechanics AMEC 2601, it will be considered equivalent to our Fluid Mechanics only if upon return you take a zero-credit self-study course for the aerodynamics part.
3. Please check pp. 8 and 9 of our Handbook for more information.

Also, please check

This Website has the Departmental approval form
http://ame.nd.edu/undergrad/Course%20approval%20form.pdf
Please fill out the form, and make an appointment to see me. I will meet with each of you separately on Friday, Nov. 10 to sign the form. At that time I need to know what courses you plan to take abroad, and how you plan to finish your ND graduation requirements on time. It would be helpful if you have the form filled out and your plans made before you come to see me. Please contact Nancy O'Connor at nmee@nd.edu to set up the Nov. 10 appointment. Appointments will be made on a first come first serve basis beginning at 8:00am and running every 15 minutes after that. A table showing available times will be posted on the international studies web page
on the AME web site http://www.nd.edu/~ame/undergrad/InternationalStudy.html Please check the site before sending Nancy an email to request an appointment time.
I have to sign the form, so that when the International Studies Office (ISO) asks me for approval of your applications after Nov. 15, I can provide the approval.
4. The above procedure is related to the AME Department only. The ISO has a separate procedure for application.
