AME students:

The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering usually offers some undergraduate courses on campus during the summer session. Last summer two courses were taught. A certain number of students need to be enrolled in a course for it to be offered; otherwise it is cancelled. Obviously we would like to offer those that we think would have the largest number of students in them. I would like to seek your opinion as to what courses to offer during the summer of 2006. If you are interested in taking an AME course on campus this summer, please send the name of the course in an e-mail to Nancy O'Connor by October 28, 2005. We will see what the need is and how many express interest in specific courses to decide what will be offered. If there are less than five students expressing interest, the course may not be offered. However, we usually propose some courses even if less than five express interest and wait and see if any more register. If they don't, it is cancelled around the beginning of summer. That is probably too late for you to make alternative plans. In the past some students have misunderstood that all proposed summer courses will be taught, and have had to change plans when they were cancelled at the last minute.

The following is what you need to do:

(a) If you are interested in taking an AME course at Notre Dame during the summer, this is the time to let us know what you would like that we propose. Unless you let us know, chances are that it will not be proposed.

(b) Some of the courses we propose will be cancelled by the University unless you register for them when they are announced next semester.
