Subject: Computing in AME
**************************************
Dear AME Student,
I want to make you aware of an initiative in the AME Department that will take place this semester. As I am sure you all appreciate, developing and enhancing your ability to work with computers and computing in all their forms is important during your time here. You were each given an initial exposure to "programming" in EG111/112 and each year those courses have worked to improve that introduction - but it is only an introduction.
As you proceed through the AME program you find that you encounter many other situations where you need to increase your computing skills and though we do not offer specific courses that address computing directly, we have worked to implement other ways in which we can help you develop your skills. This semester we will again offer a program called "Computing in AME" that will provide consulting, referrals, documentation and other services to assist you.
In the next few weeks we will provide additional information on "Computing in AME" for the Fall 2004 semester and I encourage you to periodically check the AME Bulletin Board on the Department's web site to learn more about this initiative.
Best wishes for a successful semester.
S. Batill
