Application information:

Qualified undergraduate students are encouraged to apply directly to the Ph.D. program. A master's degree is not required to apply to the Ph.D. program, and admission to the master's degree program does not guarantee future admission to the Ph.D. program.

The application deadline for fall admission is February 1st. For spring semester admission, the application deadline is November 1st. Applicants should be advised that admissions for spring semester are limited. However, applications for spring admission will be retained and considered for the following fall semester if no action is taken before then.

The application should be submitted electronically to the Graduate School.

Document Uploads:
To complete the electronic application you must upload a statement of intent that describes your research interests and your reasons for pursuing graduate school.  You may optionally upload a curriculum vitae (CV) or resume, but it is not required. Do not upload a writing sample, as it will not be considered in your application.

Letters of Recommendation:
Provide the names of three references, preferably faculty members from your undergraduate or previous graduate engineering program. Other individuals with a degree in engineering with whom you have interacted professionally, such as a supervisor from an internship, may also be appropriate if they are able to comment on your capabilities to engage in engineering research and advanced course work.

The GRE general test is required, but the subject test is not.

The TOEFL is required for international students. If you're taking the TOEFL CBT the minimum score is 250. If it is available in your country and you are taking the TOEFL IBT, then the minimum score is a total of 80 points, with a minimum of 23 on the Speaking section. Individual departments may require higher scores, and these IBT minimums are subject to change.

Additional information regarding admission requirements can be found by visiting the Graduate School website.

The Graduate School offers financial aid to qualified students in the form of tuition scholarships and a monthly stipend. Financial aid decisions are made based on the normal application materials, and no additional application is needed for financial aid.
