Minutes: September 7

Hi and thanks to those who went to the meeting tonight and signed up for
the committees. For all those of you who couldn't make it, no worries,
meetings will be held on a bi-weekly basis and you'll always be informed via
e-mail. Here's a recap of what we covered at the meeting:

1. SAVE THE DATE--Fiesta del Sol is September 17th from 5-11PM. There will
be food, music, and lots of fun! As Joel said at the meeting, it won't be
cutting into valuable partying time on Saturday so stop by, have some
dinner, and hang out!

2. La Alianza is partnering up with MSPS and ILS for the Latino Vote Talk in
McKenna on September 22nd at 7 PM as a part of a series for Hispanic
Heritage month. Professors from Cornell, UWash, and U of Illinois-Chicago
will be there. If you have any questions you would like answered by the
panel, e-mail them to alianza@nd.edu.

3. Also keep in mind the option of going to a Chicago Fire game (soccer)
food, ticket, and transportation would be provided for a low
price. If we have plenty of people interested we can make this happen on
October 8th.

4. Let us know if you're interested in helping out with the concession stand
for the Utah game on November 13th. It'll be a lot of fun and help us raise
fund$$$.

5. The *Latino SYR* is going to be on November 19th. You DO NOT have to be
Latino to attend, bring your friends!

6. If you're a pro with the computer or just want to try out fixing up our
website, shoot us an e-mail... we could *really* use your help!

7. Also, be pumped for the LATINO DANCE GROUP. E-mail La Alianza or see
Steve or Lexie if you're interested in joining. You can be awesome or just
feel like learning some sick moves, no obligation :)

8. and FINALLY, if you have any ideas of community service you would like to
see La Alianza being a part of, or any ideas for our T-shirt, just send us
your suggestions.

Wow... that's it for now. Now you all have an idea of some of what will be
going on this year. Committee members will be e-mailed individually with
regards to their independent duties. For those that missed the first meeting
just e-mail us back on which committee you would like to participate
(there's *social, academic, service, concession stand,* and a* latin
expressions *committee for spring). We'll inform you all of our next
meeting, but for now keep in mind FIESTA DEL SOL! We hope to see you all
there :)

PS. Don't forget Spanish mass is available in St. Ed's on Sundays at 1:30.
