2010 Sullivan Prize Winner: Joan Frank

Joan Frank is the author of the novels The Great Far Away and Miss Kansas City, both finalists for a Northern California Book Award in Fiction. Her first story collection, Boys Keep Being Born, was a finalist for both the Bay Area Book Reviewers’ Fiction Award and the Paterson Fiction Award.
Joan is a MacDowell Colony and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts Fellow, Pushcart Prize- and Breadloaf Fellow nominee, winner of the Dana Portfolio Award, Michigan Literary Fiction Award, Emrys Fiction Award, and Iowa Writing Award, and recipient of grants from the Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation and Barbara Deming Fund. The San Francisco Public Library system recently named Joan a Literary Laureate; she also reviews literary fiction for the San Francisco Chronicle Book Review, the Antioch Review, and other literary journals.
