This summer many computers in the administrative areas are being upgraded on their more-or-less regular 4-year cycle. For many people, this will also represent a change in computing platform from a Mac to a PC. Below is the schedule for the delivery and installation of the new computers.
For those people moving from a Mac to a PC, we will be transferring all of your data from the Mac to the PC EXCEPT for Music and Photos. You are responsible for moving your Music and Photos. Anne Kolaczyk from our Training area has provided some excellent documentation explaining how to do this:
We understand that some or all of the Music and Photos on your Mac may be business-related. The reality is that these can take such a long time to migrate that we could not possibly keep to our busy upgrade schedule if we have to move large quantities of Music and Photos. Even if they are business-related, it is your responsibility to move them. Thanks for your understanding.
For those people switching from a Mac to a PC, training is being made available and is being required by the Dean’s Office. You should attend the training courses being offered THE SAME WEEK the new computer arrives. Please see the schedule below for details.
The following offices are staying on their current platform (PC-to-PC or Mac-to-Mac) and require no training. Therefore, ALCO technical staff will be scheduling these upgrades on an ad-hoc basis.
No replacements are being made in the following offices because the current equipment is too new to replace:
