Connecting to the college FileMaker Pro database on OSX
- Add the VPNClient icon to your dock if you are going to use the database frequently. It will be located in your Applications folder and is called "VPNClient.app"

Launch the VPNClient to connect to the campus VPN.
- The VPNClient will be pre-configured for the Notre Dame VPN.

Highlight the "Notre Dame" entry and click the Connect icon.
- The Username field must be your NetID with a ".aldb" appended. (note the period between NetID and aldb)

Replace the text "klawiter" with your NetID.
- After clicking "OK" on the authentication dialog, you will receive a welcome banner indicating that you are in the ALDB group.
- Once connected, the VPNClient can be hidden or minimized, but must remain running to access the database.

Click "Continue"
- Add the FileMaker Pro v9 icon to your dock if you will be using the database frequently. It will be located in the Applications/FileMaker Pro 9 folder.

Launch FileMaker Pro version 9
- The first time you launch FileMaker Pro v9, you will be presented with the Quick Start screen. Click "Cancel".

Check "Do not show Quick Start again" if you wish to bypass this screen in the future.
- From the File menu, choose "Open Remote..."

Choose "Favorite Hosts" from the View menu of the Open Remote File dialog.
- In the "Favorite Hosts" dialog, click the "Add" button and complete the fields as shown below.

Click "Save" to add this entry to the Hosts list.
- In the "Favorite Hosts" dialog, highlight the entry for "A&L Database Server".
- In the right pane, select "A&L Database" from the list and click "Open".

- You will be presented with the authentication dialog from the database server. Enter your NetID and password.

Click "Remember this password in my keychain" to bypass this screen in the future.
- You will now be logged into the database.
