How do I request a computer?

The simplest way is to scroll down and submit the request form below. The information will be delivered to ALCO and you will be contacted by Dave Mastic with a quote. Upon your approval of the quote, the order will be processed.

How long will it take for the computer to arrive?

We estimate 4 to 6 weeks from the time you approve the quote to the time it is delivered to your office.

• For YTD 2009, the average time from order to delivery has been just over 3 weeks (23 days).
• • 50% of computers have been built and delivered within 2 ½ weeks (17 days) of the purchase date.
  • 74% of computers have been built and delivered within 4 weeks of the purchase date.
  • 86% of computers have been built and delivered within 6 weeks of the purchase date.
• Historically, over 93% of computers are built and delivered within 6 weeks of the purchase date.

Has my computer shipped? Is it already here? How far back is my computer in the line to be built?

Unfortunately we have no single consolidated system for tracking order and delivery status. Answering these questions involve manual processes controlled by disparate members of our staff. If we learn of extraordinary circumstances that will put your delivery date later than the normal 4-6 week estimate, we will proactively provide you with that information.

What do I do when the computer arrives in my office?

Do not open the boxes. Your computer will have either a PINK or YELLOW tag on it. Please read the tag and take appropiate action.

• Computers with a PINK tag indicate that the computer was purchased with Campus Workstation Program (CWP) funds. You should call Tessa McGann at 1-0585 to arrange a CWP installation appointment.
• Computers with a YELLOW tag indicate that the computer was purchased with non-CWP funds (departmental account, discretionary funds, etc.). An ALCO technician will perform the installation and setup for you. If you have not already been contacted for an appointment when the computer arrives in your office, please call ALCO at 1-7021 and press 3 to leave voicemail to request an appointment.
