MISSION STATEMENT OF AFJN-ND:
The Africa Faith and Justice Network of Notre Dame [AFJN-ND] is an organization devoted to education and advocacy on behalf of justice for Africa on the campuses of the University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary's College, and Holy Cross College. AFJN-ND is also committed to collaborating in the task of transforming United States policy on Africa in light of Catholic social teaching. AFJN-ND is open to students, faculty and staff of the University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary's College and Holy Cross College, and is a university chapter of the Africa Faith and Justice Network with headquarters in Washington, DC.
The University's Sudan Steering Committee sponsored a group of students to travel to the capitol to lobby Congress to support the Darfur Accountability Act (S.495) of the Senate and the Darfur Genocide Accountability Act (HR.1424). The students had the opportunity to hear from US representives, John Prendergast and students from over 40 different states. An incredible experience...
