Strategies
Although the Libraries do not have a formal strategy statement, the
"directions"/"strategies" statements developed for the Advisory Council
for University Libraries in 1998
and the fall of 2000 (August,
September,
and October) come
closest to serving that purpose.
Definition:
Strategy defines what an organization is, what it does, and why it does
it [the mission] through a pattern of: purposes, policies, programs,
actions, decisions, or resource allocations.
Evaluation Criteria:
An effective strategy must meet several criteria:
1. Deals with the strategic issue it is supposed to address
2. Fits with the organization's philosophy and core values
3. Works technically
4. Addresses concerns of key stakeholders
5. Furthers the organization's pursuit of the common good
