LIBRARY ADMINISTRATORS AND MANAGERS GROUP
September 13, 2000
No report was made on the project to put the Library Policies and
Procedures (LPPs) online due to Melodie Eiteljorge's absence. There will
be an update at a future meeting.
Jennifer thanked everyone for their suggestions for expanding the concepts
and modifying the terminology shown of the proposed
library directions
distributed at the August 23rd LAM meeting. However, there is too little
time to develop directions based on extensive input from library staff
prior to the discussions she will be having with college deans (September
15, 2000) and the Board of Trustees Committee on Academic and Faculty
Affairs (October 5, 2000). She will speak on three challenges facing the
libraries and current strategies for addressing these challenges, which
will also be shared with library staff.
Kathy Blackstead reported on the Grantsmanship Initiatives Group (GIG)
questionnaire results. She is pleased to note that we have some
grant-writing - and grant reviewing - experience in the library. She
mentioned four issues - time, incentives, skills and information, and
support for other work - were identified by responders as questions to be
answered in determining what kind of support is needed to pursue a grant
opportunity.
